#5: Using Humor in the Right Way – Understand What Works and What doesn’t
If you want to share a happy relationship with your spouse, you will have to figure out what works for him/her.
For instance, your partner might not like your jokes and could get offensive when you repeat them. There is a thin line between humor and teasing someone, so be careful not to commit that mistake since you will only aggravate your partner.
Only humor is that free of sarcasm and ridicule will work and diffuse fights, but humor that is meant to hurt someone will add more problems.
While you’re fighting with your partner, inject humor to make him smile, but never to hurt him.
You also need to be comfortable with your partner and possess the ability to make fun of yourself.
We all make mistakes, but if you laugh at your own mistakes and learn valuable lessons, life can be much easier.
Of course, you can’t really become humorous all of a sudden, but you can only learn over time.
You will have to be spontaneous and try to find solutions to your problems in different ways.
In addition, laughter makes you let go of your inhibitions and view things from a different perspective. It also makes you less defensive and you can open up completely to your partner.
