#3: Maintain Lasting Eye Contact To Exude Confidence
As you may already know, body language plays a vital role while you speak with confidence and maintaining a lasting eye contact is no exception to that rule. Just like you look into your partner’s eyes and talk comfortably about whatever you feel, you need to understand that eye contact shows your confidence while talking to people.
Maintaining lasting eye contact not only helps you while talking in public, but it also helps you develop a rapport with your colleagues during a meeting.
Once you look straight in the eye and talk, the other person will immediately realize that you are confident. In addition, avoid lowering your eyes when you’re talking to someone.
For instance, if you just scan the crowd without looking at anyone directly, it will quickly become obvious that you aren’t comfortable and people won’t even listen to you.
Many people will tell you that you can look at the back of the room if you aren’t confident; however, this trick really doesn’t work since you won’t be able to make the audience connect with you.
Apart from that, it’s also a sign that you’re nervous and you don’t want to sound nervous when you’re talking to a crowd or your colleagues, do you? So, try and practice eye contact with your family members. Additionally, you can also practice in front of the mirror to get better at it.
