#6: You Deserve All the Happiness You Can Get

After I broke up with my ex-boyfriend, I had begun to believe that I didn’t deserve love. It was because I had no confidence left in me. I didn’t believe that I could meet new people and become intimate with a man I really loved.

Somehow, child abuse can twist the way you think and make you believe that you aren’t worth it, but I beg to differ now. If you’ve developed a fear of intimacy because you went through something terrible, you need to remind yourself that you weren’t at fault. You aren’t going to be able to control everything that happens in life, so you should just let it go and avoid negative thoughts.

The moment I stopped entertaining negative thoughts, I began to believe that I deserved all the love I could get. Whether it’s just simple friendship or love, I knew that I could make people happy. I also told myself that I had to stop thinking that I was worthless. By exposing myself to new relationships, I learnt that I had the right to be happy just like others.
