I would like to share how the attitude of gratitude changed my life. Years ago, there was a time when I had almost lost everything near and dear, and everything seemed hopeless.
I also used to feel guilty, selfish and burdened with all the negativity that surrounded my life. Without a job, I was almost on the verge of a divorce and things were looking bleak even with my family there for me.
Devastated, I also contemplated suicide since I didn’t think I could find a way out, but fortunately, I learned that the attitude of gratitude could literally change my life if I was willing to do it.
So what exactly is this attitude of gratitude? How can that transform my life, you ask?
Well, gratitude simply means thankfulness – a way to lead your life where you count your blessings and take pleasure in simple things that makes your life even more beautiful.
I realized that I was heading down a path that was filled with negativity, ungratefulness and a grumpy attitude that wasn’t pleasing to anyone.
Basically, I was leading a life that offered no peace and I sensed that I was adding days to my life, instead of adding life to days.
In a quest to understand my emotions and get out of the rut I was stuck in, I referred to three books namely, A Simple Act of Gratitude, Attitudes of Gratitude: How to Give and Receive Joy Everyday of Your Life and Choosing Gratitude: Your Journey to Joy.
Can I simply be thankful to what I have and obtain inner peace? I had a lot of questions, but it slowly dawned on me that I could find a purpose and find happiness by following certain steps.
I didn’t read all those books at the same time; however, I would read at least 4-5 paragraphs every day and implement them in my life.
